Day by Day Itinerary:
Day 1: Istanbul Airport Pickup
You will be picked up upon arrival at the Istanbul airport and transferred to your accommodation. Get settled in and enjoy the rest of the afternoon exploring the exciting city of Istanbul on your own. Overnight in Istanbul.
Day 2: Istanbul Walking Tour (B)
Today you will make your way to the starting meeting point of the tour by 8:30am to tour this wonderful city in the company of an expert local guide. During the tour, the guide will show you the best places where to get local snacks and delicious coffee, as well as the main landmarks along the way.
Your first visit will be the ancient Hippodrome of Constantinople, today a square named Sultanahmet Square home of a few fragments of the original structure, before moving onto Sokullu Mehmet Pasa Mosque, famous for its architecturally challenging location on a steep slope and for its amazing collection of İznik tiles. Next you will walk to Divanyolu, once the imperial road from Constantinople to Rome. The following stop is an ancient 'han' for a quick gaze at some local craftsmen work, before wandering through the backstreets of the Grand Bazaar, the first-ever shopping mall. Along the way you will also stop by the book bazaar, where the first printed book in Turkey was sold in 1729.
The walking tour will then take you to Süleymaniye Külliyesi, where you’ll take a break at the original Turkish baths and learn all about this ancient ritual. Your guide will give you local insight into Islam before taking you to try Turkish tea in a tea house that offers an incredible view of the city. End the tour by visiting the Spice Bazaar, and optionally having lunch in a local ‘lokanta’ (small restaurant).
The trip will end at the Egyptian Bazaar in Eminönü Square. Your local guide will instruct you on how to get back to your accommodation, or you are free to continue exploring on your own. Overnight in Istanbul.
NOTE: On this walking tour we visit a variety of mosques. To respect this and for your own comfort we recommend modest clothing that covers your shoulders and knees for both men and women. Women should also have their own scarf to cover their heads (these can easily be purchased in Istanbul).
Day 3: Afternoon Bosphorus Cruise (B)
Enjoy a free morning to stroll around Istanbul eating delicious food and buying souvenirs before embarking on an amazing Bosphorus Cruise, through the waterway separating the two continents, Europe and Asia, with a possibility to take photographs of marble palaces, ancient wooden villas of Ottoman architecture besides modern residentials and luxurious apartments.
After being picked-up from your accommodation you will be taken on the cruise ship and see Rumeli Fortress, built by the Conqueror to control and protect the Bosphorus, and the Golden Horn, the arm of the Bosphorus that separates the old and the new parts of İstanbul. You will also drive along the traces of history at Balat viewing the Metal Church of St. Stephen the Bulgarian, the Jewish Hospital, Fener Orthodox Patriarchate and the 22 Km long Byzantine City Walls. At last you will take a cable car to Pierre Loti Coffee House.
After the tour you will be dropped off back at your accommodation. Enjoy the last night in Istanbul at leisure enjoying the ever-growing portfolio of clubs, café-bars and live music venues. Overnight in Istanbul.
Day 4: End of Tour (B)
Have breakfast at your accommodation before checking-out, when your trip will come to end.
