Day 1: Reykjavik - Snæfellsnes Peninsula, Iceland

This morning you’ll be picked up from your accommodation in Reykjavik between 9 and 9:30am to begin the day’s drive along the scenic West Coast of Iceland.

Our first stop of the day is at Deildartunguhver, the most powerful hot spring in Europe, pumping out 180 litres of 100°C hot water per second! The spring is used for heating all the neighbouring towns.

Next, we’ll visit the historic site of Reykholt, once home of the famous Icelandic author Snorri Sturluson. The waterfalls Hraunfossar and Barnafoss are our next stop. See how the water flows from underneath the lava fields and hear a story about Barnafoss waterfall.

Leaving the beautiful Borgarfjörður area behind, we will continue to Snæfellsnes peninsula, whose stunning sceneries were made famous in the “Secret Life of Walter Mitty”. Before we reach our hotel for the night, we will stop at the stunning basalt columns Gerðuberg.

In the evening we will hunt for the northern lights if the conditions are right.

Day 2: Snæfellsnes Peninsula - Reykjavik, Iceland

After breakfast, we’ll continue west along the coastline of the breath-taking Snæfellsnes peninsula.

Our first stop of the day is at the small fishing village of Arnarstapi, where we will walk around the picturesque area.

Next you have the option to go into the Vatnshellir Cave inside Snæfellsnes National Park at an extra cost. If you are not joining the caving expedition, then the guide will take you for a walk around the beautiful surrounding area.

Next we’ll stop at Hellnar for lunch (at your own expense) before we continue to beautiful Djúpalónssandur, where you’ll take a short walk on the pebble beach and explore the remains of the ship wreckage. On the beach, you may also find the lifting stones, where you can test your strength like the fishermen used to do in the old days. From Djúpalónssandur, we continue our journey to the famous Mt. Kirkjufell, a favourite spot for photographers.

In the evening we’ll make our way back to Reykjavík stopping along the way to see the Northern Lights if conditions are right.

Your adventure will end upon arrival to Reykjavík around 9-11pm.
