Magical Adventures in Lapland

On this 7 days Lapland winter  tour we go to Swedish & Finnish Lapland and make a short visit to Norway to check out the awesome scenery with the fjords and Atlantic Ocean. We visit the world famous Jukkasjärvi  Icehotel, do awesome activities like dog-sledding and snow mobiling, visit the sami people and meet the reindeer,  have a sauna with arctic swim and probably see some Northern Lights! We start and finish in Stockholm – the capital of Sweden. In Swedish Lapland we stay in Kiruna, Abisko National Park and in wilderness resort  near Rovaniemi – the capital of Finnish Lapland.

Accommodation

  • Bedlinen - bring your own or rent them at the spot for extra cost
  • Accommodation will be at cabins and hostel rooms. You will find 3- 6 bed accommodation in each room
  • The common kitchens are spacious and fully equipped
  • You'll find showers, toilets and a sauna in the corridor
  • Self service - you have to clean kitchen after use and your rooms in the morning before check-out

Itinerary

Day 1, Stockholm

14:00 We will meet at the departure point where we will board the bus that takes us overnight to the far north. The majority of day 1 is a travel day. On the bus you have plenty of time to get to know your travel mates and watch some movies.

Day 2, Korvala - (B, L, D)

In the morning when you wake up, we have arrived to the camp in Finnish Lapland, North of the Arctic Circle! Get ready for a day full of activities. After breakfast it’s time to settle in and discover the surroundings. Here you can use free of charge the snow shoes, cross country skis, kick sledges and ice fishing kit. During lunch time a light meal is served. The surroundings here are beautiful, with deep forests and a frozen lake. In the evening enjoy a dinner with local specialties.  The evening ends with an ultimate sauna experience with a freezing arctic swim – a tradition that should not be missed, when in Finland!

Day 3 Korvala – Rovaniemi – Kiruna (B)

After a tasty breakfast it’s time to leave the camp with our first stop not far away. Welcome to Santa Claus’s Village at Napapiiri where you will meet the man himself. Around midday we travel to Rovaniemi city where you will have more free time for an optional visit to famous Arktikum Museum where you can learn about Arctic nature and the Sami culture. Then we continue our journey to Kiruna in Sweden, where we stay two nights.

Day 4, Kiruna - Jukkasjärvi - Kiruna

The next day in Kiruna we will first drive to Jukkasjärvi, a small village with the famous Ice Hotel. Explore the rooms, try the beds and have a drink in a glass made of ice served in The Ice Bar, a once in a life time experience. After the visit you will go back to Kiruna and get to explore this interesting town.  Now it’s time for optional dogsledding and snowmobiling or horse riding. If the date matches,  you have the option of doing a mine tour, this is the biggest underground mine in the world! Kiruna is an ever changing town due to the size of the mine, the whole town will one day be relocated to different areas due to the expansion of the mine.

*On NY tour, 31st of December, NY dinner is included to the tour package.

Day 5 Kiruna – Narvik – Abisko

This morning we start traveling west, there’s a good chance to spot elk, reindeer and other wild animals along the way. We visit the local Sami people, the indigenous people of Northern Scandinavia. You will learn first-hand the history and get an insight into the Sami way of life. You will get to meet their reindeer, while learning why this animal is so important to the Sami people. Then we continue through the Scandinavian mountain range with spectacular scenery of peaks, fjords and later the Atlantic Ocean arriving into Norway. Fancy a dip in the ocean anyone? The area around Narvik is not only stunningly beautiful but also holds a history related to WWII, when it was a battlefield. We then leave Norway behind and travel back to Sweden arriving in Abisko National Park where we stay the night. Abisko is known to be one of the few ultimate places in the world to observe the Aurora Borealis! Here we spend the evening at a traditional ami style teepee with an open fire and some hot wine, while waiting for an amazing Northern Light appearance.
* On Christmas-tour, 24th or 25th of December dinner is included to the tour package.

Day 6 Abisko – Stockholm

In the morning, It’s free time for optional activities in the Abisko area, arranged by the tourist organization. Alternatively take a hike in the area to enjoy the exceptional nature. In the afternoon we start our overnight journey back to Stockholm through Lapland. We will have dinner stop on the way.

Day 7 Stockholm

In the morning we arrive back to Stockholm, where we started. It’s time to say goodbye to the many new friends you would have met during the Magic of Lapland tour.
