Day 1: Islamabad, Pakistan

Upon your arrival at Islamabad International Airport, you’ll be warmly greeted and escorted to your hotel, where you’ll check in and settle into your accommodations.

Day 2: Islamabad - Skardu - Khaplu, Pakistan

Embark on a thrilling one-hour scenic flight from Islamabad to Skardu, where the majestic landscapes of Baltistan await.

Upon landing, we’ll embark on a picturesque drive through the captivating Ghanche district, passing quaint villages en route to Yugo village.

Along the way, we’ll pause at breath-taking viewpoints like Thorgo Pari and the confluence of the Shayok and Indus Rivers for memorable photo opportunities.

Indulge in a traditional lunch in Yugo village before choosing between two optional activities: a scenic trek to Kharfaq Lake, offering five hours of exploration amidst pristine nature, or a cultural walk through Yugo village streets to immerse yourself in local life and connect with the welcoming locals.

In the late afternoon, we’ll continue our journey to Khaplu, where you’ll check into your hotel.

Take some leisure time to explore the Khaplu Fort Museum and the serene organic garden, soaking in the rich history and natural beauty of the region.

Alternatively, if weather conditions necessitate, we’ll embark on an exciting drive via the legendary Karakoram Highway, with brief stops to appreciate the awe-inspiring scenery along the way.

Day 3: Khaplu - Sailing - Macholo - Khaplu, Pakistan

Begin your day with an invigorating early morning hike to Toqsikhar, an ancient fort offering panoramic views of the confluence of the Shyok, Hushe, and Saltoro rivers.

Immerse yourself in the architectural splendour of the iconic Chaqchan Mosque, a testament to the region’s rich heritage.

Next, embark on a scenic drive to Macholo Valley, where the majestic Masherbrum Peak, also known as K-1, awaits your admiration. Take some time to soak in the breath-taking vistas, capturing the beauty of nature through photography and mingling with the friendly locals.

Enjoy a sumptuous lunch at the Sailing fish farm before journeying back to Khaplu.

Day 4: Khaplu - Shigar, Pakistan

Embark on a scenic drive from Khaplu to the picturesque Shigar Valley, making brief stops along the way to capture stunning photographs of the breath-taking landscapes.

Discover the renowned Sarfaranga cold desert and indulge in a delicious lunch at Shigar Fort.

Explore the fort’s fascinating museum and lush gardens, delving into the rich history of this 17th-century architectural marvel, built by the Raja of the Amacha Dynasty.

As the day draws to a close, embark on a short hike up to the old fort, where you’ll be treated to a spectacular sunset overlooking the tranquil Shigar River.

Day 5: Shigar - Skardu - Shigar, Pakistan

Today, we’ll immerse ourselves in the enchanting beauty of Skardu, starting with a visit to the idyllic Shangri-La resort (optional boating).

We’ll then journey to Upper Kachura, where a leisurely walk through local villages, fields, and orchards leads us to the serene Upper Kachura Lake. Here, you’ll have ample free time to explore the area, perhaps indulging in a boat ride amidst the tranquil waters.

Afterwards, we’ll drive to Soq Valley for a relaxing session of fishing and a delightful lunch amidst nature’s splendour.

Returning to Skardu, we’ll embark on a scenic hike to Nansoq village, the first organic village of Baltistan, with just 11 homes and 92 inhabitants. Delve into the peaceful ambiance of this centuries-old settlement, which has hosted esteemed visitors like King Charles and Prince Agha Khan IV.

Following our exploration, we’ll enjoy leisure time with a local host family before hiking back to Skardu.

Before concluding our day, we’ll visit Skardu Bazaar for a spot of shopping, where you can browse for local handicrafts, jewellery, carpets, and more.

Finally, we’ll return to Shigar for a restful overnight stay, reflecting on the day’s unforgettable experiences.

Day 6: Shigar - Deosai - Astore - Gilgit, Pakistan

Embark on a scenic drive from Shigar to Gilgit via the awe-inspiring Deosai Plains, renowned as the world’s second-highest plateau.

Along the way, we’ll visit notable landmarks including Manthal rock Buddha, the serene Sadpara Lake, the majestic Ali Malik top, and the pristine Bara Pani and Sheosar Lake, nestled at an elevation of 4114 meters.

Take some leisure time to explore the breath-taking beauty of the Deosai Plains, which come alive with a vibrant array of flora during the summer months, boasting an impressive 406 species as documented by Nawaz et al. in 2006.

Continuing our journey, we’ll traverse through charming villages of the Astore Valley, offering glimpses into a different culture and way of life. As we travel along the legendary Karakoram Highway, we’ll make brief stops at iconic viewpoints such as the Nanga Parbat viewpoint and the junction point of the world’s three highest mountain ranges.

Upon reaching Gilgit, check into your hotel and enjoy some free time in the evening to unwind and reflect on the day’s unforgettable experiences amidst the majestic landscapes of Northern Pakistan.

Day 7: Gilgit - Hunza, Pakistan

Start your day with a hearty breakfast before embarking on a scenic drive to Hunza.

Along the way, we’ll pause to admire the historic Berano suspension bridge, one of the region’s oldest, and explore the fascinating Danyor tunnel.

Our journey continues with brief stops at iconic landmarks such as the collision point of two tectonic plates, the ancient Silk Route viewpoint, and the breath-taking Rakaposhi viewpoint, where you’ll have the perfect opportunity for stunning photography.

As we wind through the picturesque Nagar and Hunza valleys, take in the sights and sounds of village life, immersing yourself in the rich local culture.

Upon reaching Karimabad, check into your hotel and enjoy some leisure time to relax and rejuvenate.

In the evening, embark on a delightful 40-minute walk along the Samarqand kohl water channel, surrounded by fragrant apricot orchards, as you delve deeper into the local culture.

Day 8: Karimabad - Altit - Duikar, Pakistan

Immerse yourself in the rich history and culture of Hunza as we spend a full day exploring its wonders.

Begin with a visit to the iconic 800-year-old Baltit Fort, accessible via a leisurely 30-minute walk, followed by a stroll through Karimabad Bazaar, where you can shop for exquisite handicrafts, gemstones, and dried fruits.

Indulge in a traditional lunch at Kha Basi Café, a charming establishment owned by Serena Hotels and operated by local women.

Afterward, venture to the historic Altit Fort, dating back 900 years, and visit the nearby music school, where local children learn and perform traditional melodies.

In the afternoon, journey to Ganish village, Hunza’s oldest settlement, where you’ll have the opportunity to visit a local family home and gain insight into their daily life and traditions.

As the day draws to a close, ascend to Duikar at 2800 meters above sea level, renowned for offering one of the world’s most breath-taking sunset views. A short 15-minute hike leads you to this panoramic vantage point, where you’ll be treated to unparalleled vistas of the Hunza and Nagar valleys, with majestic peaks towering above 7000 meters in the distance.

After witnessing nature’s spectacle, return to your hotel in Karimabad, reflecting on the day’s enriching experiences amidst the splendour of Hunza.

Day 9: Karimabad - Pasu - Karimabad, Pakistan

Embark on a scenic drive through the charming villages of upper Hunza as we make our way to Passu.

Along the way, we’ll pause to marvel at the turquoise waters of Atabad Lake and enjoy a serene boating experience.

Upon reaching Gulmit village, immerse yourself in the beauty of the orchards as we take a leisurely stroll through the village. Visit an old house and the local music school, gaining insight into the cultural heritage of the region.

Next, embark on a short hike to Ondra Fort, a community-based tourism initiative in Gulmit village, offering stunning views of the surrounding landscape.

Enjoy free time to admire the majestic Passu cones and the scenic beauty of upper Hunza before continuing our journey to Borith Lake, famous for its migratory birds.

After witnessing the magnificent birdlife, we’ll proceed to Passu for leisure time in the afternoon. Opt for an optional evening trek to Passu glacier beside the stream, or simply unwind and enjoy the sunset from Glacier Breeze Restaurant with a cup of tea or coffee and the famous apricot cake.

Day 10: Karimabad, Pakistan

Begin your day with a delicious breakfast before embarking on a scenic drive to Hoper Valley, nestled at an altitude of 2800 meters.

Along the way, we’ll stop at Nagar Khas, a charming village in the Nagar Valley, where you’ll have the opportunity to meet locals and immerse yourself in their unique culture. Don’t miss the chance to explore the historic Nagar Fort, a testament to the region’s rich heritage.

Continue our journey to Hoper village, where we’ll embark on a beautiful short hike to Hoper Glacier, allowing you to experience the thrill of walking on the glacier’s icy surface.

Afterward, we’ll drive to Minapin village, where you’ll enjoy leisure time amidst the serene surroundings. Indulge in a famous traditional lunch of Gurkun Karahi, while a local historian provides insights into the region’s fascinating history.

Day 11: Karimabad - Khanabad - Gilgit, Pakistan

Embark on a scenic drive to Khanabad village in lower Hunza, where you’ll immerse yourself in the vibrant tapestry of village life.

Spend the day with a welcoming host family, participating in their daily routines and gaining first-hand insight into their traditions.

Explore fruit orchards, stroll through quaint streets, and engage with locals, including artisans and historians, who will share fascinating stories about the village’s heritage.

Indulge in a traditional lunch prepared by your host family and partake in optional meditation or yoga sessions, immersing yourself in the peaceful ambiance of the village.

If unable to fly, we’ll embark on a scenic road journey to Islamabad.

Alternatively, if the weather permits, we’ll enjoy sightseeing in the capital city. Your tour leader will provide guidance on available options, which may include a fascinating excursion to the Taxila museum and archaeological sites, offering insights into the region’s rich history and heritage.
