Itinerary

Day 1

Your transcontinental adventure begins in Sydney where you board the Indian Pacific. Prepare for a journey of contrasts, from lush vineyards to vast goldmines, majestic mountains to the barren expanse of the Nullarbor, from cities of four million to ghost towns of four. As the train winds through the breathtaking Blue Mountains, explore the comforts of life onboard, get acquainted with your cabin and fellow travellers. After settling in, savour your first meal – a regionally-inspired dinner paired with all-inclusive fine wines and beverages. After dinner, join fellow guests for a late night drink or head back to your cabin for your first night onboard.

Day 2

You arrive in the ‘Silver City’ of Broken Hill as the day begins, where you embark on a morning of Off Train Excursions to discover the mining history and artistic culture of this unique town where the streets are wide and there’s a pub on every corner. Lunch is served onboard as the Indian Pacific enters the southern tip of the spectacular and ancient Flinders Ranges. Arriving in the city of Adelaide in the afternoon, you have the choice of a tour of the city, a visit to the world famous Barossa Valley or McLaren Vale wine regions (seasonal), or a trip to the beautiful Adelaide Hills featuring the culinary delights of Hahndorf.

Day 3

You’ll awake to the seemingly endless expanse of the Nullarbor Plain. Breakfast is served as you travel along the longest stretch of straight railway track in the world. This evening, your sense of wonder will be ignited as you enjoy the tranquillity of dinner under the brilliant desert stars in the remote and beautiful Rawlinna (seasonal).

Day 4

Breakfast is served as you glide through the mild skies and cool green vales of the Avon Valley on your way to Perth, arriving after an onboard lunch. Transfer from train station to your accommodation.

Day 5

The iconic Busselton Jetty, in Geographe Bay, is the longest timber jetty in the southern hemisphere (stretching 1.8 kilometres)! and a great place for some morning tea (own expense). In the Margaret River Wine Region you can enjoy a gourmet platter lunch at a Margaret River brewery and indulge in complimentary beer tastings. Then Explore Mammoth Cave on a guided tour. Mammoth is a gothic like cave with vast chambers full of amazing formations. The cave will reveal a fascinating range of information about the flora and fauna of this region. Pass through the stunning Boranup Forest and be awestruck at the size of the massive pale barked Karri Trees reaching up to 60 metres in height. Visit Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse, where the Southern and Indian Oceans meet. The lighthouse stands 39 metres in height from ground level and 56 metres above sea level and shines out over the landscape for 48 kilometres. Heading back towards Margaret River make a brief stop in the township where you have free time to explore the quaint shops and chic cafes of the area. You will also find craftwork created by locals and an array of specialist shops. Enjoy the break at a cafe for a light dinner (own expense) before returning home to Perth.

Day 6

Our fully air-conditioned bus – one of the few vehicles permitted on Rottnest – is a perfectly comfortable way to experience the beauty of this super-scenic isle. This 90-minute tour visits the island’s most spectacular locations, with insightful commentary shining a light on Rotto’s unique flora, fauna, history and culture. The bus stops at two key vantage points – Wadjemup lighthouse and the rugged West End – where passengers can hop off, take a short walk and soak up the views. You might even meet a quokka or two along the way.
